| Healing doesn't always necessarily mean that you will totally recover from your illness, but you will become a more vital human being, accepting what is before you.
Mr. Sun Kui Yuan
All over China, cancer patients gather together and practice what is called, "New Qigong", a walking breathing technique that has been shown to help reduce cancerous cells and tumors. They are using this as a "complementary" approach to both Western and Eastern medicine treatments. As well as practicing qigong, they speak about the positive aspects of their lives, share heartfelt stories about healing, laughter and of course drink green tea. These gatherings have come to be called "social oncology" groups.
New Qigong has been attributed to Mrs. Guo Lin, founder of the Cancer Recovery
Association, who healed herself in the 1950's from ovarian cancer, after two
unsuccessful surgeries, using qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Mrs.
Guo Lin also studied with Dr. Liu Guizhen at Hebei Medical Qigong Hospital and
School developing the breathing techniques. Mrs. Guo Lin passed in 1984 at the age
of 75. New Qigong became a medical treasure in China with over a million people
practicing it. Today it is still used as part of the cancer treatments in the
hospitals in Beijing and through out China under the name of Yuan Xi Xin Qigong
or Beginning New Qigong, developed by Mr. Sun Kui Yuan.
Mr. Sun Kui Yuan, co-author with Mr. Zhang Mingwu of Chinese Qigong Therapy,
developed Beginning New Qigong, which incorporates the walking breathing techniques
of Guo Lin Qigong, to "enhance health" as well as treat cancerous tumors as
a "complementary" modality. Mr. Sun was one of the founders of Qigong Self-Control
for Cancer Prevention and Treatment Association of the China Cancer Research
Foundation. In 2000, The International Qigong Foundation for Social Oncology,
Inc. sponsored Mr. Sun to come to the United States. During his presentation
on qigong, Lightbridge Productions filmed him in a series called "Healing Quest",
episode 8, "Qigong Treatment for Cancer". His qigong, Yuan Xi Xin Qigong, Beginning
New Qigong, is currented featured on PBS nationwide.
The International Qigong Foundation for Social Oncology, Inc. offers a qigong training film in Beginning New Qigong, called "Qigong for Health" as well as group and private classes and instructor certification in Beginning New Qigong. Please check our calendar and gift pages.
